If you’ve been using this journal, you might be wondering about the seemingly random questions it poses. Take, for example, the preference for cats, dogs or neither. How does that connect to knowing and loving yourself? Well, it is important to note that this journal is filled with random questions like this, and this is the first of many. 

When faced with these questions, it’s important not to rush into answering them. Instead, take some time to reflect. Ask yourself what factors influenced your decision; was it society, religion, family, friends or something personal that shaped your choice? 

Allow me to share a story; Before 25th December 2022, I had a strong aversion to cats. I couldn’t stand being in the same room as one. Then, a little girl, like a sister to me, received a cat for Christmas. Initially, I didn’t like this cat, but over time, you’d now find me playing and bonding with it. These days, even the mum teases me about my initial dislike, and now when I visit their house, the cat and I are the best of friends.
