Question: Recently, what is the most important decision I’ve made and why?
Quote: The quality of your life ultimately depends on the quality of your decisions.
COSTS VS BENEFITS
In the realm of important decisions, our minds instinctively weigh the costs and benefits of making a particular choice. However, this is just one side of the coin. It is equally important to consider the costs and benefits of not making that decision. Not making a decision, in itself is a decision, and it too bears a cost.
REFLECTION ON LIFE’S STORY
Take a moment to reflect on your life. The very fabric of your health, residence, career/business, relationships, spirituality and finances is woven by the decisions you made or didn’t make.
MOVING BEYOND REGRETS
While we cannot change the past, its lessons are invaluable. Dwelling on the past offers little solace. As we move forward, many important decisions await us, each holding the power to shape our destiny.
THE ILLUSION OF CERTAINTY
Perfection in decision-making is an illusion, as we often year for 100% certainty. However, even in a quarter of the important decisions we make, it is impossible to have 100% certainty.
THE 51% FRAMEWORK
In a conversation between Steven Bartlett and former U.S. President Barack Obama regarding decision making. Obama shared when he was President he would aim to reach 51% certainty, which would determine if he made or didn’t make the decision. Whatever path he decided he would then be at peace with it.
